...
I know well 202 series, but however without being
an eminent specialist of this series.
For the identification of this 202, I use various
books.
But these airmen so cheerful hide a good part
of the car and its details.
Here is what I can tell about it:
-The 202 went out in February, 1938. It is one
6CV in 4 cylinders with air valves in head, front
wheels are independent and braking is still with
cables until 1946.
- First models until spring, 1938 are equipped
with rims with 14 alveoli, then with rims with
palettes and from 1946 with rims with full veil.
On the photo, they are rims with alveoli, so the
car is one of first taken out models.
- All the flasks of back wheels of the 202 of
pre-war years were equipped with a stylized lion.
Curiously absent on this car. However, to avoid
the identification of the 202, as these motives
were riveted, nothing was more easy than to remove
these rivets as well as the lion of the calender
and the monogram. Maybe by discretion because,
at the time, a French vehicle in a German base
was not well admitted.
I hope that this information will be useful for
your works.
Goodbye. Hervé Coëffic.
